Under general supervision, responsible for conducting developmental studies and to use the result of the studies in formulating new rules and procedures in order to improve quality, increase utilization and cut operation cost in his/her assigned area of responsibility
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessing and selecting relevant processes and the adequacy of resources to make improvements that will significantly impact factory performance.
Designing, installing and commissioning of new production equipment/processes, monitoring modifications and upgrades and troubleshooting issues on existing processes.
Developing and scaling up process improvements from DOE into manufacturing process.
Conducting developmental studies to determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommending methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
Preparing and executing production improvement project plans to include cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluate cost factors.
Managing the cost and time constraints of the projects.
Selecting, managing and working with sub-contractors.
Working closely with design engineers and machine shop supervisors to monitor and improve machine utilization and productivity of manufacturing processes.
Ensuring the process works at the optimum level in order fulfillment (quality, competitive cost and velocity).
Supports manufacturing in the design, development and fabrication of fixtures, inspection jigs, prototypes, gauges, etc.
Preparing reports, flow diagrams, work instructions, procedures, temporary instructions, rework details, 8D, one-point lesson, shop clock analysis, etc.
Provides support to manufacturing by developing and optimizing economic scales of processes in the production of dedicated device kits and spares. Responsibilities involve designing tools, testing materials, designing of systems for controlling production, commissioning and upgrading of processes.
Provides support for the resolution of manufacturing issues that arise on the shop floor. Provides recommendation to design team to ensure design for manufacturability vis-à-vis availability of resources.
Education: B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering or other engineering discipline or closely related technical field of study will be considered.
Experience: Minimum of three years (3) experience in machine shop or manufacturing environment.
Systematic problem-solving methodology; lean manufacturing principles and processes; project management; ability to work independently or with teams; experience in basic workflow processes in the fabrication, assembly and testing of mechanical systems and components. Intimate working knowledge of statistical process control methods. Able to read mechanical drawings and working knowledge on ASME 14.5 GD&T and DIN standards. Proficiency in SolidWorks (latest release), Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) is required.
